moving blog

So I’ve decided that I’m the Whore of Google, so I’m moving to BLOGGER.

I still loves you, WP.

Yet another project that will be forgotten in a couple weeks…

Daily Photos Dairy

I’ve heard of people doing a daily photo thing, like a diary/journal sort of thing… to document their life or just to try to get better with their camera.  I’m mostly after both.  I have an extreme love for randomly visiting old writings, blog entries and such, so I’m in love with the idea.

So everyday for as as long I can stand to do it or (until my camera dies?), I will post 1 to 5ish photos taken throughout the day.

This might take over my main blogging, which has been neglected even since I decided to go to college.

Check it, yo.

My Necrons!

I have a new camera.  I can show off my Necrons!

Second Life Demon/Dragon Kitty avatar

Because people keep asking “what are you?”.
No, I’m not a fucking demon/dragon kitty.  I just like how it looks.  And yeah, I’m not a furry.  Just happen to have a few anthro avatars on SL.

Oh my God, I love Twilight!

April 12, 2010 2 comments

I’ve always wanted to make comics.

It took an Explosm binge while being ill to finally get me to do one.

They started out pretty crappy, so shall I.

And… I think this is my very first fanart evah.

A closer look at writing scenes

So I may have re-settled on a writing program to use.  Kabikaboo, as nifty as it is, is tweaking on me, so I’ve turned my attentions back to Writer’s Cafe.  I believe I’ll be working towards purchasing this one, if it continues to prove to be worthy.  It’s not my favorite program, but it seems to be my only choice.

A recent breeze through the first rewrite of my first novel made me cringe… It was reading like the Bible or… I don’t know, a newspaper? There aren’t very clear scenes and it’s hard to read it very smoothly.  And by novel I mean the first quarter, I haven’t finished any of my re-writes because I’ve been struggling with sorting through things.

Ages ago when I was using yWriter, I had scenes.  I remember it reading better.  When I stopped using yWriter because it’s flaky as fuck, my novel went through a couple rewrites using OpenOffice… just a plain word processor.  This made me lazy and I didn’t have such a good overview of what was going on.  I did use some indications of scene changes, but it was still loose and sloppy and I ended up with a lot of useless stuff in there.

So this is why I’m trying so hard to find a way to organize my writing.

I’ve been fiddling a bit with a spread sheet, that might be of use in conjunction with Writer’s Cafe but I really prefer having the content of my novel -inside- whatever I’m using.

That’s what I’ve been up to an the writing front! I’m going around finding great articles on writing.  I’ll have to share them here somehow.  I’ve just discovered Google Bookmarks.  It might be cool to figure out how to point people to my writing bookmarks collection…

Why I chose Necrons

March 22, 2010 2 comments

So I just finished a post about the new additions to my Necron family.  I wanted to talk about why I chose Necrons, but wanted it in a separate post.

It seems a lot of people choose Necrons because “they’re easy to paint”.  This is sometime I hear time and time again and I poke through blogs, watch videos and such.  I think people who choose something because it’s easy is… sad.  Sure I guess it’s a nice introduction to painting but if you’re going to do something, do it for the right reasons.

When I was presented with the opportunity to pick an army, I almost went with the Chaos Demons.  Because I love chaos (hail Eris!) and have a hard on for Demons.  But then I heard some little thing about them that made me think eh… I’ll pick something else.  I can’t remember what that thing was off hand, but I’ll put it here if I ever remember :-p

After Chaos Demons I had Dark Eldar on the list (space pirates, much?) and Necrons.

I found out that not many people play Necrons (or Demons, it seems, but less so for Necrons) so I turned my attention towards them.  What is different about Necrons? I read about them in the rule book and liked what I read.  The idea of Dark Eldar was still appealing but Necrons were stealing my heart with their story.

Then I found out the models are expensive as far as points go and people get bored with the available selection.  Then I found out about the We’ll Be Back roll and I was in lust.  If it wasn’t for the We’ll Be Back roll, I would have thought longer about choosing.  It makes up for the expense of the models.

Somewhere right before or right after I made my decision, it was brought to my attention that they would be easiest to paint.  That whole time, painting had not crossed my mind.  I was too caught up in their story and what they can do and the challenge of playing them.

So I’ve played 5ish games of 40k.  Lost each one but love my Necrons more with each fight and with each new model I get.  I’m not very good with tactics and I’ve heard Necrons are hard to play.  But I’ve also heard they’re easy.  So… uh… yeah.  I don’t know.

To me they’re hard.  But I love the challenge.  I love hearing/reading about their tactics and am even getting inspired to do some fan art :-p  Now…. if I could just remember even a quarter of what I hear and half of the rules, I might win a game…

P.S. I almost forgot to mention… one of the most important reasons why I chose Necrons: They’re scary.

Nightbringers, wraiths and tomb spyders – oh my!

So the gluing in done for my Nightbringer, 2 wraiths and tomb spyder.  The Nightbringer and and 2 wraiths are even on their bases.

It was a pain in the ass.  I hate pewter so hard.

So brilliant me decided that it would be better to just skip to the Cancer Glue (E6000) because that’s what I finally got to work when I was last gluing pewter (the Heavy Destroyers).  Yes, I had the super glue joints sitting there for -hours- a couple times, but it still wouldn’t stick.

This time it was the opposite.  I tried Cancer Glue, no luck.  I tried the plastic glue, also no luck.  Finally I decided to go for the super glue… it was fiddly of course and I had a few pieces fall off, but I finally got into the groove and now pieces are sticking.

For now.

They were all very easy to put together.  The legs on the Tomb Spyder were fiddly but I wrestled them into submission.  There were two extra little pieces that took a bit to figure out… but other than that, it was smooth sailing.

I’m having a hard time trying to decide how to paint my Nightbringer.  I love the classic look from the GM workshop, so I might go with something like that, but more like the actual colors I’m using for the rest of my army.  The Wraiths and Tomb Spyder will be easy though.

There’s something else on my mind as far as 40k goes, but I’m going to put it in a separate post.

40k game and new addition to the family

So last night I played my first game evah against someone other than Ryan.  Um… I forget the guy’s name, but he had Blood Angels.  Nice guy.

We had decided to do an Annihilation game and I know I would have done better if it weren’t for a few certain mistakes, which I won’t be making again >.<

Mistake #1: We rolled the Dawn of War deployment and I chose for him to go first >.<  Gaaaw… why… whhhyyyy?! *facepalms* This gave me… what… 6″ to deploy with? And the god damn terrain was not working with me.  For some reason I always run screaming from terrain.  Or at least just go around it.

Mistake #2: I forgot, as I have forgotten in previous games about the special little thing about rolling a D6 with my gauss weapons when hitting vehicles.  DERP >.<  This cost me greatly for the first time I was able to shoot a vehicle.  I got a second chance with another vehicle and another unit and it worked out VERY well.

Oh, and this also means when shooting a non-vehicle, rolling a 6 is an automatic wound (they still get saving throws though).  God damnit.  >.< This just makes my Necrons even deadlier.  I can’t wait to unleash this upon some orcs, they mow down pretty easy under Necron fire, even when forgetting this rule so I’ll prolly be dancing around singing “Let the bodies hit the floor” :-p

Ok… new addition to the family… a WRAITH.  And 9 extra warriors.  Used.  Only a few of the warriors are intact enough to use but I have enough to create a new unit of 10.  So now I can has 50 warriors (3 units).  This gets me up to 1941 points.  If I toss a couple scarab swarms in I’ll get *crunches numbers* 1989! Woo!  Add disruption fields to the scarab swarms and I has 2001 points :-p

I’m not a huge fan of the scarabs and I always somehow overlook them so they never really get used.  But they are handy for being in the way.

Ok, that’s all I have for now I guess.
